In 2010 the Slightly Different newsletter won an Interactive Media Associations outstanding achievement award, only one of two awarded in this category ( e-zines/newsletters ), beating stiff competition from 33 entries. IMA spokesman, Aaron Warner said: “The Outstanding Achievement award is the second highest honour bestowed by the IMA and is an extremely challenging award to win. The typographic concept was to describe the Greek influence within the book, using an ancient Greek method of writing called boustrophedon meaning in Greek epigraphy ’as the ox turns’. Boustrophedon describes the script on early Greek inscriptions in which lines of text run alternately from left to right and reversed right to left, as the ox pulls the plough in successive furrows. The illustration of the snow hare is symbolic of the character Bunny, whose cracked glasses lie unearthed in the snow next to the hare, while a group searches for Bunny in the background. Daylife runs in a light > dark gradient while nightlife runs dark > light. Once you reach the center you simply flip the brochure to start a new day. All points of interest have been positioned in the guide based of the time you are likely to visit them e.g. coffee houses are at the beginning of daylife and night clubs are located at the end of nightlife.
